Dallas wedding planner brand photos are something new for me! I’ve photographed chiropractors, interior designers, home organizers, health coaches, and the list goes on. But, a wedding and event planner was a first and I loved the challenge! This blog post features both studio and outdoor images, plus a few tips for your next brand shoot!
Marchantia contacted me because she needed photos for both her website and social media. Planning her shoot was interesting, because there was so much we wanted to do! We finally decided that for this shoot, we would take basic branding photos, and then for another shoot do a wedding/event mock up style shoot. Marchantia was referred to me by her amazing personal stylist, Roxanne Carnes. Roxanne helped her plan out beautiful outfits that:
Not only that, Roxanne also package each outfit so it would hang easily in the studio.
For Marchantia’s prop planning, she brought a table cloth, dishes, and fresh flowers for a table scape. She also brought typical office props such as a clipboard, laptop and notebook.
Bringing both her daughter and a playlist helped get the shoot off on a good foot! Because we had looked on Lumen Room’s website ahead of time, we planned out the furniture, backdrops and sequence of events in order to make the best use of our time. You can see below how much variety we achieved by knowing exactly what we were going to do! From standing and walking, to sitting at the desk or on a couch or stool, there were lots of options! It’s important that we captured photos “working” with props, but also captured genuine smiles for clean, clutter-free headshots. I shoot both horizontally and vertically for whatever size your web developer may need for your website.
It was a cloudy day, which allowed for shooting anywhere midday! From the top of the parking garage, to a restaurant, and just walking around the shopping center, we captured beautiful lifestyle shots for a Dallas wedding planner brand photos. Everyone needs those personal shots that show, “this is who I am and I’d love to work with you!”
Marchantia admitted, as do most of my clients, that she was a bit stressed prior to the shoot. I’ll be honest, I liken a brand shoot to a vacation. There is a lot of planning before hand and unpacking afterwards, but when you are on vacation, you are so glad you did all the hard work before! On the branding shoot, you get to relax, and be you! I take care of the posing and what comes next, so you can just look pretty! Trust me, you can’t mess it up!
Tip # 1:
When Marchantia stepped out of her vehicle, after exchanging pleasantries, she exclaimed, “I’m NOT used to these eyelashes!” I laughed because she isn’t the first client I’ve had that’s told me that! To be fair, I have never worn lashes, so I’m not exactly quite sure what it’s like. But, clients say that it feels like their eyebrows have grown over their eyes! Yikes! I’m sure that is a weird sensation when you aren’t used to it! So, the lesson? If you are going to get lashes for your shoot and aren’t used to wearing them, try getting lashes for a week or two before hand so that you won’t be totally weirded out on the day of the shoot!
Tip # 2:
Make a play list for the indoor shots! I have one if you don’t, but it’s kinda fun to just relax to the music you love. Marchantia brought her daughter to the studio and she got the playlist on for us, helped move furniture and bring her mom the next outfit. So, bonus tip: bring a friend along!
