Top 10 Podcasts for Women Business Owners

What is your absolute favorite podcast? I LOVE to listen to podcasts! Anytime I have a free moment in the car, when I’m on a walk, or relaxing for a few minutes on the porch, I turn one on. As a lifelong learner, I am always ready to soak up information! This varied list of podcasts from all kinds of experts in many different fields, is extremely helpful to all women business owners, no matter what line of work you are in! As a bonus, I added my three favorite podcasts for moms at the end! We ALL need inspiration, and as women in business, we wear many hats! The three extra podcasts help us balance our whole selves – not just our business selves!

# 1  Podcast for Women Business Owners: Cultivate Your Life with Lara Casey

Lara Casey Podcast

Excerpt:

“You know all those things you’ve always wanted to do? You should go DO them!

The things that last longer than you. The things that run deeper and are more thrilling than skydiving. The things that make you come alive!

Cultivate Your Life with Lara Casey, best-selling author and mom to three, is a weekly podcast where Lara will guide you to bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. Each week she’ll talk about how to uncover what matters to you in the big picture, and start acting like it today. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or in need of some refreshing truth, you are in the right place!”

My Thoughts:

My favorite thing about this podcast, from the author of PowerSheets Intentional Goal Planner  and the book Make It Happen is Lara’s authenticity and drive to help women live their lives to the fullest. She shares her life stories and lessons learned, especially from gardening, and gets you thinking about what is really important and what really matters and lasts for eternity. I HIGHLY recommend this podcast for intentional living and goal setting!

# 2 Podcast for Women Business Owners: The Goal Digger Podcast with Jenna Kutcher

Goal Digger Podcast

Excerpt:

“How do I build my dream job? How do I make money online? Am I ready to leave my 9 to 5? How can I create passive income? How can I grow my Instagram following? And the biggest question of all, can I *really* turn my passion into profits?

Welcome to the Goal Digger Podcast where we will answer ALL of these questions and so much more! Week after week, host Jenna Kutcher brings you the the productivity tips, social media strategies, business hacks,, and inspirational stories that can help YOU design your dream career. Jenna shares tangible tips and hacks that she used to become a self-made millionaire in photography, online courses, Instagram sponsorships, and navigating the world of being a #girlboss social media influencer. Along with sharing her best kept secrets, she interviews the best in the industry (Amy Porterfield, Jamie Ivey, Melyssa Griffin, Lori Harder, Cathy Heller and so much more) who will share their secrets to ensure you are seen, heard, (and hired!)

With millions of downloads and counting, the Goal Digger Movement is growing every day and now it’s YOUR TURN to hear from the experts, get inspired, and tackle your biggest goals along the way. What do you say? Are you in? Because we believe that work doesn’t have to feel like work.”

My Thoughts:

When I was getting back into business three years ago after my third child went into kindergarten, things had changed so much in the business world! I felt that it took me some time to reacclimate to all the changes, and Jenna’s podcast for women business owners was the one that helped me realize all the new things that were out there – especially regarding personal branding! I’ll admit – I was super self-conscious and did NOT want to put myself out there! Back in 2005, no one had a personal brand! This was all new! But, Jenna, a former small town photographer, teaches the power of personal branding, and being comfortable in one’s own skin! So, thanks to her, I now feel comfortable sharing about myself and even doing videos! It took time, but it happened!

# 3  Podcast for Women Business Owners: Building a Story Brand with Donald Miller

Story Brand Podcast

Excerpt:

“If you’re frustrated because you struggle to get the word out about your product or service, the Building a StoryBrand podcast will help. Fans of the podcast are ecstatic about the fun and entertaining way Donald Miller brings you practical advice about clarifying your message so customers will listen. Don and the StoryBrand team are the world’s leading experts in harnessing the 2,000 year-old proven power of story formulas to get people talking about your brand. Get your message out, grow your company, stand out in the marketplace, and have a blast doing it!

Past guests: Seth Godin, Patrick Lencioni, Daymond John, Rachel Hollis, Ken Blanchard, Mel Robbins, Dave Ramsey, Scott Hamilton, Auntie Anne, Charles Duhigg, Daniel Pink, Blake Mycoskie (TOMS), Chris Anderson (TED), and so many others.”

My Thoughts:

Before I heard Donald Miller’s Podcast, I read his book Building a Story Brand. The book lays out a step by step approach to sales, and it’s not about the seller! He shows how we need to make the customer the hero of the story and gives plenty of examples on how to do that. His podcast is an extension of that book, crammed with advice that gets results!

#4 Podcast for Women Business Owners: Personal Brand Journey with Jamie Swanson

Jamie Swanson Podcast

Excerpt:

“Want to build a Personal Brand? Wish you could see the real behind-the-scenes of how someone actual grows a strong personal brand and becomes an Influencer? How does personal branding work? What personal branding strategy actually helps you grow your audience, and what doesn’t work? Curious about how to make money as a social media influencer? And why should you want a personal brand at all in the first place? In this podcast, Jamie M Swanson, founder of the StorySession System and leader of the Personal Brand Photography movement, takes you behind the scenes as she pivots from having grown a highly-profitable business brand to growing her own personal brand. You’ll see what works, what doesn’t, and hear business tips along the way to help you grow your online business. She’ll explain her social media strategy, how she leverages her audience to fully support her family and make money online, and she’ll share the behind-the-scenes stuff that you’d normally only hear from your closest friends and colleagues in masterminds or over coffee. Plus, she’s going to share her statistics and numbers along the way.”

My Thoughts:

I first found Jamie, founder of the Modern Tog online several years ago. At that time she was a wedding photographer. She has since moved into being an advocate for personal branding and personal branding photography. Actually, because of her 1K Weekend in January of this year, I branched out into personal branding photography, and haven’t looked back! She was influential in my decision to specialize in personal branding photography! She is a pure genius when it comes to personal branding (just look at her rainbow hair – you would recognize her from a mile away!) On her podcast for women business owners, she helps entrepreneurs, not just photographers, build their personal brands.

# 5 Podcast for Women Business Owners: Online Marketing Made Easy with Amy Porterfield

Amy Porterfield Podcast

Excerpt:

“How do I start an online business? Grow my email list to thousands of subscribers? Sell more and grow faster? These are just some of the big questions that leading online marketing strategist, Amy Porterfield, digs into on the top-ranked Online Marketing Made Easy Podcast. In addition to mini marketing masterclasses and step-by-step guides, each episode is designed to help you take immediate action on the most important strategies for starting, scaling and automating your online business. Amy’s specialty is getting into the online trenches with you. Thinking about creating an online course? Want to promote with webinars? Need help with your Facebook ads? Discover why hundreds of thousands of online business owners turn to Amy Porterfield to generate more profits and to make sense of the online marketing space, implement the strategies that really get results, and turn that side hustle into a business that lasts.”

My Thoughts:

Amy is funny and has a wealth of wisdom for online marketers! In fact, one of my favorite podcasts she has is one I send as a resource to my personal brand photography clients! It’s called How To Plan Your First (Or Next) Photoshoot! I love it so much because she talks to the female business owner who has maybe never been in front of the camera for branding photos, or who perhaps doesn’t like getting her picture taken. (Which face it, is most of us!) She talks about how to plan for the photoshoot and has a sign up on that episode’s show notes for a free download on how to plan your next photoshoot like a pro! However, she doesn’t just have photoshoot help, she also talks about how to repurpose content, takes the listener behind the scenes, talks through how to create courses and more!

# 6 Podcast for Women Business Owners: Business Bites Podcast with Rachel Brenke

Rachel Brenke Podcast

Excerpt:

“The Business Bites Podcast® explores the legalities of owning and operating a small business. Rachel Brenke launched the Business Bites Podcast in 2016 to give busy entrepreneurs quick tidbits of education with actionable steps to implement in their businesses. Rachel is a mother of five, wife of an army veteran, lawyer, business owner of multiple brands, triathlete, and IronMan competitor. She started out with an MBA to help her in her own small business and eventually ended up in law school. As someone in the trenches herself, Rachel is in the unique position of knowing what her audience actually needs to know to be successful. She is often joined by guests sharing their own expertise in different subjects from taxes to marketing to knowing when to hire others and everything in between.”

My Thoughts:

Female business owners are BUSY! The one thing we are lacking in is time! Rachel cuts right to the core and gives you bite size business advice in about 15 minute chunks! This is genius because there is always a few minutes when you are waiting in carpool line or folding laundry or making dinner to turn on a quick podcast! I love it because I never have to remember to go where I left off! It’s the podcast for women business owners that I can listen to in its entirety! One of my favorite podcasts of hers for my line of work is called: Developing a Personal Brand! Of course it’s loaded with all kinds of great information for my clients! In addition to that episode, as a legal expert, she speaks to the legal side of business ownership often, but also has lots of other great information, including lead generating, how to grow your blog in ten minutes a day, and more!

# 7 Podcast for Women Business Owners: Life with Amy and Jordan – NEW!

Amy and Jordan Podcast

Excerpt:

“Welcome to Life with Amy & Jordan, an educational podcast for people who want to enrich their lives by making small decisions that lead to great outcomes.

Married for over ten years, Amy and Jordan Demos know what it means to struggle and succeed. Originally elementary school teachers, they built a photography business from the ground up, turned it into one of the most successful in the industry, and have since taught hundreds of thousands of online students how to succeed, too.

In this podcast, they share their personal secrets and life strategies –– in marriage, business, faith, finances, time management and personal growth –– to help YOU live the best version of your life, one intentional choice at a time, because Amy and Jordan believe that success isn’t for the chosen few. It’s for those who choose.

For more information, visit amyandjordan.com/podcast”

My Thoughts:

Although quite a bit younger than me, Amy and Jordan Demos have been inspirational in my photography business. They truly understand how to love and serve their wedding clients well, and are gifted educators in the photography world. I have taken several courses of their, including their posing course and their business course. This married couple is the real deal. They are not ashamed to be Christ followers and share their stories of how they were teachers turned photographers. Their podcast is more about life lessons, including One of the Greatest Gifts You Can Give Your Child, and Starting the Day off Right.

#8 Podcast for Women Business Owners Brands that Book with Davey Jones

Brands that Book Podcast for business owners

Excerpt:

A show for creative service-based business owners who want to learn how to build their brands and find more clients.

My Thoughts:

As a former wedding photographer, Davey and his wife have partnered together to create The Palm Shop. They help people build brands that book by creating and designing website and website templates for creatives. As a matter of fact, they created my website template and I had a designer from Brand Me Gorgeous personalize it! I couldn’t have been happier with the results! I binge listened to Davey’s podcast for both women and men business owners on my summer vacation this year and learned everything from Five Tips for Finding Inquiries Today to How To Find Your Dream Clients.

#9 Podcast for Women Business Owners The Allie Worthington Show with (none other than) Allie Worthington

Allie Worthington Podcast

Excerpt:

“Author, speaker, entrepreneur, and mom to five sons, Alli Worthington, hosts her show built on one simple premise – bring on people she loves, respects and wants to learn from. You will love the fun interview-style conversations followed by coaching time where Alli answers listener questions about faith, business, and life. Alli is also the author of Breaking Busy, Fierce Faith, and The Year of Living Happy. She loves speaking at conferences about faith, business, and living life well.”

My Thoughts:

I first learned of Allie Worthington when I participated in a small group at my church called Propel, whose mission is to provide resources and opportunities for growth to ignite every woman’s passion, cultivate her purpose, and unleash her potential. At that time, Allie was one of the hosts on the video that went with our curriculum. I then read her book, Breaking Busy, and practically underlined every other line! It resonated with me as a busy mom and business owner! Imagine my surprise, when one of my personal branding photography clients here in Dallas told me she was being mentored and coached by Allie herself! Very cool! She also host the Blissdom Conference to help you build your platform and scale your business. Blissdom is a conference and community for women and moms who want to take their business and life to the next level. Hopefully I can attend next year! All sorts of relevant topics are covered in this podcast geared toward women business owners.

#10 Podcast for Women Business Owners Chrystal’s Chronicles with Chrystal Evans Hurst

Chrystal Evans Hurst Podcast

Excerpt:

“Real. Authentic. Transparent. Thoughts on faith, family, food, fitness, and fun.”

My Thoughts:

I first found out about Chrystal when she gave the keynote address at a Teach Them Diligently homeschool conference I attended several years back. Of course she had to be the daughter of Tony Evans because she was just that good! Her teaching was real and relatable to moms of all ages and stages! Her podcast, not just for women business owners, features guests that address topics such as Living with Intentionality and Knowing Your Identity. She speaks faith and encouragement. Cool fact: my brother-in-law and go-to videographer from Galligan Media videos promos for her and her family such as this one: 4 Days of Legacy from the Kitchen!

Although the following three podcasts aren’t specifically geared for women business owners, the inspiration is relevant to women in general, especially moms!#

1 Don’t Mom Alone by Heather McFadyen

Don't Mom Alone Podcast

Excerpt:

“Heather MacFadyen, mother of four boys, connects you the listener with people and resources to help you feel less alone. Consider it an invitation to “withness”. With mentors. With friends. With God in you! Over at DontMomAlone.com she helps join y’all to the ‘Not Alone Community’.”

My Thoughts:

With guests such as Sarah Mae, and Dr. John Townsend, Heather gets to the heart of a mother. Her poignant questions and expert guests have helped me in learning how to love and discipline my children, how to cling to my Biblical values in our current culture and more! I so appreciate Heather and her heart for Jesus and moms!

#2 The Busy Mom Podcast by Heidi St. John

Heidi St. John Podcast

Excerpt:

“Author and Speaker, Heidi St. John brings encouraging, relevant, Biblical truth to women.”

My Thoughts:

Heidi is another keynote speaker I heard at a homeschool convention. She is a Godly woman who is not afraid to share the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ in love. She talks about subjects such as  the Power of Prayer and Hope for the Overwhelmed Mom just to name a few. Her podcasts are usually short, so its easy listening when you find a pocket of time here and there.

#3 Trim Healthy Mama with Serene and Pearl

Trim Healthy Mam Podcast

Excerpt:

“The #1 “Health & Wellness” podcast for 2018!!! (*according to PodBean) Counting calories is out. All the food groups are in. Becoming trim and healthy doesn’t have to be difficult or painstaking anymore. After trying almost every fad diet out there… sisters Serene Allison and Pearl Barrett, authors of the best-selling Trim Healthy Mama book series, took matters into their own hands and The Food Freedom Movement was born.

This podcast offers a deeper dive into the world of THM. Listen in as the girls tackle a variety of food, fitness and lifestyle topics with the same quirky attitude and style that has endeared them to an ever-growing audience of women who are changing their lives and the lives of their families. Welcome to The Poddy!”

My Thoughts:

Sisters, and podcast hosts Serene and Pearl introduced the world to a balanced approach to eating and losing weight. Although I don’t follow their program to a tee, I use many of their products, such as Gentle Sweet instead of sugar and their Pristine Whey Protein to name a few. They also offer a line of beauty products and even a magical cream that helped rid my daughter of eczema around her mouth! No, I’m not getting paid to say that! Although I love listening to these crazy, Jesus – loving women, their podcasts can sometimes get a bit lengthy as they tend to go off on rabbit trails. If you can stick with them, though, they have great health information such as episodes like Take the Stress Out of Your Health Journey.

And I can’t forget our amazing church podcast!

BONUS: Northplace Church by Pastor Bryan Jarrett

Northplace Church Sachse, TX podcast

Excerpt:

“Northplace Church is a place where the doors are wide open to people from all backgrounds. This podcast includes messages from our Sunday services from our Lead Pastor Bryan Jarrett and others. We invite you to listen whether you’re new on your spiritual journey or a committed Christian who wants to get connected more deeply to Jesus. Visit www.NorthplaceChurch.com/WATCH for the video equivalent of these messages.

My Thoughts:

Paston Bryan, lead pastor at Northplace Church, teaches the truth of God’s Word in a way that is relevant today. He doesn’t “sugar coat” the gospel. Every week I leave challenged to grow in my faith and apply the Word of God to my life! Recent sermons include Stay on Mission and  Courageous Faith.
