Why I’m a Photographer

FILED IN:

Personal

I never got to meet my maternal grandparents. They both tragically died when my mom was only eighteen years old. Growing up, I loved to hear the stories my mom told about them and I spent hours gazing at their black and white photos. I wanted to know everything about them that I could. I so wished I had journals from them that I could read.

Maybe that’s why I love what I do so much. Often times I find myself thinking about great grandkids I’ll have someday that will maybe want to look at the photos I took, or read my journals. What do I want them to know about me? That I had brown hair and liked to bake? Well, sure, but I want them to know so much more – more than anything – I want them to know that I had a hope in something so much bigger than myself.

I desire future generations to have the hope of Christ’s coming again and to know that God keeps His promises to His children – especially the promise of everlasting life with Him in eternity for those who surrender their lives to Him.

So, that’s why I do what I do. It’s why I take pictures and why I have about 15 journals and why I have notes all over my Bible. I want to leave a legacy.

The portraits I take for you are more than just simply pictures. They tell your story. They will tell your story for your great grandkids someday. What do you want them to know? What is your legacy?
