There’s this thing about pictures. In an instant, everything looks perfect. A smile looks carefree, a twirl looks joyful, and you feel weird, but look amazing as the photographer poses you. But, there are often unseen hazards that don’t show up in the final image – for instance – mosquitos, heat, snakes (yes!), sick models, sandy shoes, growling tummies, internal fears & insecurities, etc.

Rarely is life like the Pinterest perfect pictures.

In real life, there is no camera following your every move. But, there is someone who sees everything. We all want to be noticed, receive approval, acceptance, and accolades. A lot of times, though, that doesn’t happen. It may feel that no one noticed that you struggled to joyfully share your favorite dessert with your sibling, or that you gave up your free afternoon to help a friend move, or that you tirelessly give of yourself to take care of an aging parent or sick child. Whatever it is you are doing, God sees.

He is your audience of one and He takes notice. He approves.

Your day to day tasks may seem insignificant. But not to Him. He is glorified. I was reminded of this message today as I listened to the God Centered Mom Podcast. On the episode entitled When You Feel Unseen, Heather’s guest, Sara Hagerty, mother of six, reveals:

“There is actually an invitation to have God’s eyes on me right now– in my laundry room and chopping onions at the kitchen counter and 8 hours of the day that are undocumented. He’s documenting them. He’s seeing them and actually wants to dialogue with me.”

Accept His invitation. Let Him change your perspective. He is documenting your life! Live it for him!

Except for the mosquitos, this session with these beautiful sisters was indeed almost perfect! Both girls are involved in print modeling and film so they felt at ease in front of the camera. As a bonus, Casey, herself enjoys photography, so it’s always fun to take pictures of someone with the same interests! Casey also enjoys golf and Erica loves to dance! I’m so thankful they allowed me into their afternoon to document a glimpse of their lives!
