Our pastor often says that life in the church happens in circles, not rows. It’s so easy to walk in and out of a church service, but relationships are built in small groups and in serving together. It was in our Camera Club small group that I had the privilege of meeting Melissa last spring. Melissa enjoys life and loves sharing her experiences with others in her Christian counseling service, speaking engagements, blog, upcoming book and more. Her book, Vision Casting, is her story, guide and challenge for today’s young Christian women to discover purpose and direction through clear vision casting. It was such a joy to photograph Melissa! God is using her unique gifts in His kingdom to bring glory to Himself. Hey, you may never know who may be sitting in your row at church!
Maybe you aren’t an author or a counselor, but the Word says He has gifted you! You are created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God has prepared in advance for you to do (Eph. 2:10). We need your gifts, your children and family need your gifts! I Peter 4:10 tells us to use whatever gifts you have received to faithfully serve others. No holding back. Don’t believe the lie that it’s not enough.
Whatever you do, do it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not people. Melissa told me she didn’t care if only five people read her book, she knew she was called to step out in obedience and faith and write what God had laid on her heart. Now, we know many more people than that will read it, but the point is, she took the risk! It’s too easy to sit back and say, “someday”. If God is asking you to do something, take the step, and see what He will do with it!
